Mission Statement
Safe Zone's purpose at Joliet Junior College is to reduce homophobia and heterosexism on our campus thus making our campus a safer and freer environment for all members of our community regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The Safe Zone program includes training for individuals to serve as a resource referral (allies) for student in our community that identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex, ally, asexual, and pansexual (GLBTQQIAAP). Campus allies can be identified by the Safe Zone logo that is placed in their office. These allies have committed that their space is a safe place to talk about issues which impact GLBTQQIAAP students.
